Initiated in 2007 by four West Toronto Book Club members who had all been touched by cancer, Read for the Cure aims to connect book lovers with a united purpose: to fund breakthrough scientific research in the fight against cancer.
An annual Cancer Research Society fundraiser, presented by Penguin Random House Canada, Read for the Cure has raised $1.65 million since its inaugural event and with the help of thousands of participants and generous corporate partners across Canada.
Extraordinary Read for the Cure Committees across Canada help to curate unique literary experiences where each ticket includes three amazing new books and the chance to connect with award-winning, best-selling authors.
Best of all, your purchase of a Read for the Cure ticket directly funds essential environmental cancer research.

Book club members Emily Babiak, Christine Biggar, Sara Street and Susan Culver initiated the idea of Read for the Cure in 2006. Their story is one many can relate to: they were all touched by cancer in one way or another. They battled it themselves, or witnessed other book club members or loved ones struggling with it.
